Adding more sand to my tank?

I used the sugar grain sized sand (about 1 3/4 inches deep) in my tank, my tomato clow seems to enjoy kicking this stuff around. I am afraid this sand might mess up my filter. I'm considering adding another inch of a courser sand, thinking it will be heavier and not go into my filter. My tank is fully cycled and is a 29 gal. Any advice will be of great help.

I wouldn't mess with it, if sugar sized is what you like that's what you should use
(btw thats what i like too)
If you keep your filters cleaned like you're supposed too it'll be fine
also your suction shouldn't be close enough to the bottom to pick up the sand anyway

Your post number seems to indicate perhaps a newer tank. If this is so over time as your bacteria colony builds the sand will become "stickier" and not blow around so much.

Thanks for the replies. The tank is about 2 months old. Filter intake is about 4 inches from the substrate, I was just concerned that the sand could damage the impellers in my filters.

no your impellers will be fine, just make sure your power heads are aimed up enough to keep from blowing holes in your sand bed
