Adding Sand

So i was wondering if I have a tank that has been established can i still add some sand to it. I was thinking about adding about 10 to 20 pounds to my sump but wanted to make sure it would be ok to do first.

yeah youll have to do one of 2 things
1 add it very very very slowly so it doesnt create a sand storm in the tank.
2 turn your sump area off from the rest of the tank add the sand and wait till it settles out to start it back up.
I am sure others will have a few other suggestions too.
