i heard many types of additives..but i just want to know the general rule of thumb for all the additives that are mandatory for a reef tank. Please list them for e.g calicum..etc...and their functions. thank you@@@!!!
I have intentionally kept my additives as simple as possible. I use Seachem reef advantage to build calcium levels...seachems reef builder to build alkalinity levels...once a week I use Seachems reef buffer to establish ph @ 8.3....then I top-off with kalwasser to help maintain established levels. Other than that all I do is change 10% with fresh saltwater(Instant Ocean salt) once a month for trace elements.Works well for my system.
Use a quality salt for water changes, quality foods for feeding, feed often, at least as much as your tank can handle, use additives to maintain Ca and alk levels, and you really dont need much else. Some use iodine, but youll want to do some research on its use and decide whether your tank needs it or not
