Adjusting a prizm

I have a 137 gallon tank that is just past cycling. I put a prizm skimmer on it and have to practically close the water off or the collection cup fills up fast. It's been on a day now and I took off the collection cup to clean it (not much gunk, but some foam) and reinstalled. Did not change the water flow, but 1/2 hour later I happened to look and the collection cup was about to overflow. Why would that setting have been good for a couple days, and then all of a sudden go crazy? I'm going to be scared to leave it running when I leave the house!

it happens to mine a lot too. Don't worry...it won't flood ur house! You just have to keep it really closed some times and other times a little more flow is ok.

Normal for a Prizm, if you look closly to the top lip of the collection cup, you will notice a few holes in it, this allows the water to drain back into the tank. The outlet where the foam comes out is slightly lower then the lip of the cup also. This allows the water to drain back into the skimmer. After a few days you wont have to worry anyway. I'd be interested to know if the Prizm will be effective on a tank that size. I have heard several people say that even though its rated for 90g's you should only use it on 55g and below.
