ok, getting back in to this a bit slower than anticipated --- I think the need to drill into a tank for the 1st time is slowing me down, and I want to do the best thing. Im trying to use a 45 gal display with a 27 hex (display) refugium. Both are acrilyic. I have a sunken livingroom so I have the advantage of having the refugium higher than the display. I also have a sump that was an old wet/dry.
Here are my questions:
Is there any drawback to a standpipe in the main tank, draining directly into the sump?
Should I have the refugium in-line to act an as algae scrubber, or can it just over flow into the display as a feeder tank?
If the refugium is in-line, how do I control the current?
If the refugium is not in line, what type of filtration do I need in the sump?
Thanks!!!!!!
