The time has come for my henioochus to take a trip back to the LFS. It is now too big and is picking at my corals. It has aquired a taste for Trachphyllia.
So what are your favorite small (my tank is only 55 gallons) reef fish and why are they your favorite? Color - behavior? I will buy one to two this weekend and being the "Q" process.
Thanks for your advice.

HI Connie, I guess my favorite fish in our reeftank would have to be our Niger Trigger, I love his colors, dark blue and when the light hits him a certan way you can see purple and real light brown in his face, also a floresant blue on his fins, and personality, gosh, he's got it. He'll take food from my hand and when he shows off he will lift his top fin and lower his bottom fin, also he pushes his lips out, he love to pose for the camera also. :D Lisa

Doesn't he pick at your corals and inverts?
Thanks,

My favorite fish is my lawnmower blennie named Ugly. Like his name applies he is not the prettiest fish in the sea but has a great attitude. And time to time he will eat the unwanted algae in my tank.

The only fish in my reef is a Mandarin, it is the most amazing fish. But I dont recommend them for tanks that are not specifically designed with them in mind.

I would love to add a Mandarine. I tried one once before but it died. However, I am now up to 75 lbs of LR and a 4 inch DSB. I still may have too much competition since I have other fish. When I add the refugium this summer I might tried it agian. A trusted LFS told me that the Synchiropus picturatus (green spot) is hardier than the Splendidus??? Anyone else ever here that of experience that?
More ideas?
Thanks,
Connie

There are so-o many cool reef fish. It's hard to say. I have a red lip blenny "wildman". He is a joy to watch. The bicolor has similar traits.
I like my flame hawk as well. He perches and swims down for his food.
I enjoy watching my bicolor Angel swimming in and out of the live rock.
All of these are small.
