Advice & Questions on Sump

I have a 55g tank running 2 canister filters and I plan to replace those filters with a sump. I have a few questions:
1. "Mag" pumps seem to be the most recommended. Some searching reveals many manufactures (Danner, Supreme, Pond Master, etc). When someone recommends a Mag 7 (for instance) who is the manufacture?
2. I have a 20g tank in mind for the sump, is this large enough? In any case I have to move the stand out from the wall to insert the sump.
3. Sump vs refugium? Does one have more maintenance over the other?
4. Overflow - any suggestions?

I think of Supreme - Pondmaster when Mag is used

make your sump as large as you can

both if you can. You can also section your sump to have a place for rubble/chaeto
4. Overflow - any suggestions?
