If you wanna go with a trigger I'd look at a Niger, they tend to be fairly mellow and IMO, they are hands down the best looking trigger and are very well priced. What kind of puffer are you considering? I have no experience with puffers so I have little to add but I am sure others will chime in.

you should be fine with a puffer aslong as it's the same size or smaller then the others.

I wouldn't add either until your hippo is over 2" and doing well.
