I'm not sure how many NFL fans are out there, but this is the HUGE story around Cleveland right now. As some of you know (or may not know) the Cleveland Browns were ripped from the city in 1995 after Art Modell decided he was going to move the team from Cleveland to Baltimore to become the Ravens. For the first time in 80 years, Cleveland didn't have professional football from 1996 until 1999 when the league awarded the Browns back to the city.
Several months ago, Art Modell passed away, and now there are a lot of people who are pushing to get him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It's no secret that he did a lot of good things (helped create Monday Night Football, scored the league billions from TV contracts, hired the first minority General manager Ozzie Newsome, etc). However, most people around here think there is NO WAY he should go in, based on the fact he took the Browns out of Cleveland.
To make it even more interesting, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is in my town (Canton, Ohio) about 55 miles south of Cleveland. If he were to get elected, there might be riots down here. Seriously.
As a general sports fan, who doesn't have a dog in the fight... what do you think?
