I have a 75 Aggressive tank with live rock and I need to get new bulbs for 2 standard florescent lights 48 inches.
What type of light (10,000 k etc,) would be best for them?
Is there a brand one would recommend (quality and price-wise)?
Best place price-wise to purchase them online?
Thank in advance!

As a poll, what does everyone else have on their aggressives?

On both my FOWLR tanks I have one Coralife 50/50 bulb. I find it produces a good spectrum and isn't too bright for my guys.

A great thing about aggressive tank is that the lighting does not have to be as intense as that of reef tank. I personally prefer a dim lighting because many of aggressive fishes are cryptic/nocturnal by nature (but not necessarily). I try to have at least 60-80% overall actinic character. I think having more actinic light is more natural for aggressive fishes. This can be achieved by having 2 actinic bulbs and 1 10,000K bulb, or 1 actinic bulb and 1 50/50 bulb....etc I'm sure you know what I mean. But, it's just a matter of personal preference. 50/50 overall is always the safest bet, but you can make a slight modification to that, too! Good luck!

If your just running 40 watt NO bulbs try a couple combos to get the look You like...
The fish will prefer it toned down and "dusky" rather than "bright", even at low wattages...
I've found good activity and "pleasant" viewing with a partial actinic or a "blue-er" spectrum bulb...
At $10 to $12 a pop get a couple and try different combos...
GE... "Aqua-Rays" in the "Saltwater Blue" (blue) and "Full Spectrum"(white) and "Fresh/SaltWater (light blue)...
Aquariun Products..."Marine-Glo (blue) and Power-Glo (pink)
In the $20 range are the URI Bulbs...AquaSun (pink), Actinic O3 (blue/purple) and Actinic White (12k, white)
Over my 210 I'm running 2x96 PC 50/50s and an extra 40 NO actinic for dawn/dusk acccent lighting...29" tall and I have good "daytime" activity.
Prior to that I had that lighting over my 125 (18" tall) and much less "daytime" activity...
Prior to that (over the 125) I had 3X40 NO (2 light blue and 1 actinic) and had Good "daytime" activity
