Make sure the filter is off, if you can take that tube off and just place it in the bottom of the tank, or leave it there for it to crawl out by itself. Please do not try to remove it manually, that would only cause it more stress and might damage it.

You have one of those difficult filters that just won't fit with those cylindrical sponge filters, maybe you could find one of them that will stretch around it, I'm not sure if they will or not.

I have the same filter and I was thinking of putting a knee hi (pany hose) stocking over the end. Do you think that would work ok?

Experiment with that idea and let us know if you think it would work. Not a bad idea, if it does indeed work.

Well I think it will work. I had a pair of actual hose and cut the foot out of it and put it around the intake with a rubber band. It works fine. However, the hose that I used are very thick. So if you actually bought a cheap cheap pair of knee hi's I think they would work better because they will be thinner.
I had them on there a few hours, and they finally made my bio wheels stop turning because it wasn't getting enough water through it. I got plenty of water flow it just slowed it down enough to stop the wheels.
So now I put a media bag over the intake - I actually have one that has velcro on it. It is working AWESOME. So the BTA can't get stuck.

Interesting let me know if it ever does get stuck or if food winds up getting stuck and you have to clean it all the time.

Ok don't do it!!
I didn't clean it at all while it has been on there. I did testing today and I have .25 trites (which I never had even while cycling) and 5.0 trates. :scared: So I put in some RENEW in a filter bag and I am mixing water to do a water change. So don't use this method. Was a good idea, but not a good outcome. Maybe if you were to clean it everyday. At this point I would rather tank a chance on the BTA getting stuck ( which I do not want to happen...but) than messing up my whole tank.
So Thomas - My BTA has not eaten since I put him in Friday. He is still moving around and is now on the glass beside my filter. Should I let him keep moving or just try to place him myself and then feed him??

OK take a look at this thread below and look at the small grid plastic material that I used for an overflow idea. You should be able to get it at most hobby stores and its fairly cheap. Perhaps you can rig up some kind of basket for your intake filter. At least its an idea.
Perhaps also slide the filter away from him for now and try to buy yourself some time. Get the anemone on the rocks if possible and then feed him there so he gets the idea that there is food available on the rocks.

I am not sure what thread you are referring to. I have checked several.
I am trying to move it. It has shoved itself up behind the filter (where the clowns usually stay). As I am trying to move it the female clown attacked me.
:hilarious
I guess that is a good thing as she is liking the BTA although neither of the clowns have played in it yet. I am now thinking I won't be able to move it. I have most of it unattached from the glass, but there is still a little that is REALLY stuck there

Not a problem. I will look at it next. Also just wanted to let you know I got it moved. I fed it two pieces of krill and it is blowing around and looking like the picture below.
Should I do something else. I moved one of the wavemaker sprays more toward it. Do you think that is ok or will it like less flow? Should I try to get the side to attach more or just leave it alone? Should I feed it alittle more?

Wow that is cool Thomas. I thought I was the only one who ever had a firefish go through the eggcrate :scared: I posted a thread on here and everyone thought I was crazy. They had never heard of such a thing. Well now I know I am not alone

I have seen that stuff. I could see if I could rig up something around it. Maybe even take of the intake that is on it and have it go longer toward the bottom so I will have more movement and use this as the cover.
Good idea!! You should have told me about that the other day.
