Ok lets start out by saying I lost my male GSM about 3 weeks ago. I could not figure out what killed it, or even where it whent. Today I noticed that my 6 line who I have had almost a year now has a nasty bump on his head in between his eyes. I then noticed I did not see my purple fire fish any more.
I tried to test my water and for what I could test it looks fine. The ph is at 8.4 the temp is around 82 degrees and the NO3 is at 0. I did not chech the phosphate or calcium, I didn't think they would have anything to do with this problem.
All I can think of is that I could have one of those mantis things stinging my fish and my pistol shrimp is dragging them into his hole.
I have a test kit on order so I can check all my other params.
What do you think is wrong with my 6 line. The bump is big for the size of the fish. It is not open at all. It mostly looks like a zit so to speak without a white head. Just a little discolored. I cant get a good pic of him to post sorry.

Lets see what TerryB thinks about this. Is the bump red, or normal color of skin, only bumped?
How are the fish doing aside from this? Eating, swimming, etc.?

Ok the bump looks like normal skin/scale whatever but streached out. I am now noticeing bumps on the belly of my purple tang. It looks like chicken pox, or just plain bumps under the skin.
The shot of the 6 line is a very hard pic to get. that is not the 2nd eye on the other side. It is the bump.
The tang looks a little different in the pics as well. The stomach is a little hard to tell in the pics as well.
Is this some kind of disease or water problems?
