well, it had to happen... as it tends to do with saltwater tanks. after a solid year (plus) of reef keeping, detritus has happened. a few days ago, my lights were knocked into the tank by a drunk buddy. i had two 36" fixtures over my 125 and was able to borrow a spare 36" fixture from a buddy to hold me over until i order new ones. i called the company with some questions about the fixture i was going to order and they told me they are coming out with an upgraded fixture on the 1st of feb. it wont be delivered until the 10th which meant i spent hours today cramming a 6' reef into a 3' space. i'm a bit worried about putting a lot of these corals so close together. i used a few tupperware containers to try to keep sweeper tentacles away from other corals, and also to keep flow away from corals that like low flow but lots of light. i'm praying to avoid a massive loss. i'll probably start running carbon, and i'm going to start feeding the corals much more heavily. i know setbacks like these are bound to happen in this hobby, and i'm willing to roll with the punches... but a week before 2 different frag swaps?!?!?!?! COME ON!!!!

well, after a few hours to settle in, all my corals look okay. i tried to put the same species together to avoid chemical warfare. i was really mostly concerned with the sinularia, because i have several large colonies, and the euphylia since they can be nasty. i was also worried about my bubble coral but didnt put anything very close to it. i also busted up my monti cap, one of my favorite pieces, but i just crammed the extra pieces in a piece of LR. montipora grow so fast that i'm not all that concerned with it. in a few months it will be a nice piece to take to the next frag swap.
