I bought a neat sunken ship today and slowly took all of the LR out of my sf eel's tank. It took me 2 hrs to flush him out of the rocks, but now there's just the ship and one small LR. I finally got em on camera!

he is just over 6 inches. Now that I have most of the rock out the little guy has been checking out the tank like crazy. I just hope he doesn't decide to jump out. I do have a lid on the tank, but there is still and inch left open on the back. Is that bad????

I don't have an eel, but I have read on here many times that they can get out of the tiniest openings.

i wouldnt worry to bad. my eels have only escaped once (see thread "all to save a stpid SFE.." to no what i mean) but otherwise as long as u provide em w/ plenty of lr and food (not to much mind u) u should be fine, but its always bettr to er on the side of caution...

Well the little guy ate 3 silvers today so I dought he's hungry. He just kept exploring the pirate ship inside and out. Ithink he finally went to bed. oop there the little guy is again. He likes that ship. He keeps going in and out and all over the mast and the deck of the ship. interesting.......
say is the gapping or gulping of the mouth normal for eels, or is the litle guy stressed?

if you have removed his hiding spot and he seems to be lookin for something ,.. id put a stop to it. Put the rock back in and keep him happy. Mine escaped through a ,... .25" hole and he was 18" or so. Its not worth it to see him as you will as he grows
and the breathing, its somewhat normal as they look they are trying to swallow the water to breathe, as long as it is not real fast pace
