I have a few questions about aiptasia.
1 - I have read about the lemon juice to kill them.
2 - I have heard about hot water applied right on them.
3 - I have 3 peppermint shrimp in tank as we speak.
4 - my main question about them is in the bottom of my canister filter is a lot of white hard worm looking pieces, (same looking pieces that are attached to the aiptasia in my tank ) when i talked to my lfs he said when they mutiply they can be every where, is that what I am looking at ?
( sorry no pict to go with this thread )
they are also on my ceramic filter pieces also ( I use a ehieem filter system these pieces look like little tubes. )
what I need to know is should I & can I replace this material with out messing up tank.
or can i wash with lemon juice ?
thanks u mike

i heard the shrimps u have are suppose to eat aiptasia. I also have the same problem with aptasia as well and i bought this stuff called Aiptasia-X and it works really well, instantly burns them away. Keep in mind though if u dont get them all the multiply quickly. About ur white worms do they look like this?

i dont think that is aptasia. Aptasia are anemone looking things they dont live in tubes.
I thing your pic is a tube worm. It is harmless a filter feeder. Im think. maybe someone else will chime in soon.

yea i was trying to see if those were the worms that u mike was talking about. Are they called tube worms though, i thought they were spaghetti worms, but mike if this is what u have they are harmless.

peppermints are hit and miss with aptasia. I recommend Joes juice. About $14 at LFS.
I zapped 2 the other day and haven't seen em since. It literally eats them away like alien acid right before your eyes.
