Air bubbles underneath base rock

I just added some new base and live rock to my tank, and am in the beginning stages of my first cycle. I noticed that large (the size of a dime) air bubbles have accumulated underneath some of the base rock. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Hey,
I don't think it's of a major concern other than the fact that nothing will grow where the air is trapped. I would redirect a power head, or get another one, and aim it at the lr. It sounds like you need better water circulation to avoid "dead spots".

the air pockets could be from something mechanical adding bubbles to your water, like a powerhead or the return flow from a protein skimmer.
