Air Bubbles

I have a SeaClear System II 40 gallon, with LR and LS and I am running a skimmer. My question is this: How do I get rid of micro bubbles? I tried turning down the air flow to the protein skimmer and even turning it off but I still have bubbles. I also have a section on my front glass that has air bubbles all over the glass. My tank is 8 months old, I had this problem once at the beginning and it went away, but it is bothering me now. Could it be because I just changed the charcoal? Help Please! <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

Hello, I'm only a few weeks into Saltwater. Are microbubbles bad, my tank has quiet a bit of oxygenation. None on the glass, but I am pumping quite a bit of air into my tank. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Air bubbles from surface agitation are fine and are a good thing. You should not run an airstone or anything like that though....

Thanks a lot. How about air diffusers in the UGF tubes?

Why can a person not run an airstone? I have had mine for over three months and there have been no problems.

Tiny bubbles from the airstones will take out some essential trace elements from the water and will contribute to lowering your PH. Ramone, it could be you have an air bubble in the skimmer itself causing the micro bubbles, I have heard that seaclone skimmers are a real pain to deal with. Undergravel filters cause more problems in a saltwater tank than do anything. They contribute greatly to rising nitrate levels and you will not be able to lower them until yopu get rid of the UGF.

With LR and LS you don't need addittional filtration so why run it at all? If you run an airstone your fish will get a condition called pop eye...mine did. That convinced me to get rid of the airstone.
I only get those microbubbles when air is getting into the system from either a lose connection or the water level falling and exposing the air intake on the top of my power heads. HTH
