Does anyone know who makes a temperature controller for a window air conditioner unit. My tank as been getting up to 82-83 degrees because my room has been getting into the 75-79 degree range when my air conditioner is not on.
I want to find something that I can plug the air conditioner into that will regulate the temperature so that my aquarium will stay the same temperature.
Thanks for everyones help in advance.

Never guess what they are called..........
Thermostatic outlets, Common for greenhouses and such HD should have them for about 15 bucks. They are generally NOT adjustable but you just get one with the proper temp you want and go from there.
There are hot and cold outlets.
Ones to control ABOVE set temps and ones to control UNDER set temps.

I saw a controller for a ceiling fan recently at HD. I didn't get a chance to look into it, but it looked like the same idea of what you were looking for:
Temp gets hot, turn on. Temp gets cold, turn off.
Or just get an AC unit with temp control. That's what both of our window units are.

I don't know if they sell swamp coolers (evaporative coolers) in your area or not but you might try looking in that area at your hardware store they usually sell a device that has two boxes one that plugs in between your outlet and the cooler and then you can remote mount the other box with the thermostat somewhere else. I have seen wired and wireless versions but they only carry them seasonally here and what's available usually varies from season to season.

Also what about a Ranco temperature controller? They use them for running a chiller on your aquarium I would think you could use it to control an airconditioner.

Your room air conditioner should have a capillary bulb temp adjuster built in to the unit that you can adjust to set effective room temps. They are not what you would call precision pieces of equipment but they do allow you to cahnge settings. I have found that with window A/C units, as I have in my house, it can be more effective to leave them on all day at the desired temp to avoid heat buildup that can take a long time to dissipate.
