Hi,

Something about micro bubbles getting trapped in the gills of the fish. But I read that an air line with no stone is okay...but be prepared for the salt creep if you go that route. I run two airlines in both of my tanks (no stone) because I keep seahorses.

I've tried airlines both with and without air stones. You get salt creep with both but for some reason with air stones you get more salt creep.

Its got to be the added bubbles. They must carry the salt into they air more efficiently. I use a bubble wand in my big tank bc I just like the look.the creep is there but its comparable to the creep I get from my filter.

That's a myth. Gas bubble disease is not caused by bubbles from an airstone.

LOL...It seems every time I turn around, something I have believed for what feels like centuries turns out to be a myth... or just misinformation.

I thought gas bubble disease was a seahorse problem (nothing to do with the gills).... are you saying that fish are not affected with tiny bubbles getting caught in the gills...and
is there a disease actually called "gas bubble disease" that affects fish as well, can you explain better for me?

i could never figure out why they were bad lol. The ocean is full of surf and bubbles as the tides churn. Lol I thought maybe I was just missing something lol.

It is caused by drastic temperature swings or the over-saturation of oxygen in the water. The over-saturation of oxygen does NOT come from air bubblers.
