personally i dont think that vacumeing sand(in my case) is good, its okay if you over feed regularly but i think that if your takeing bacteria in the sand bed or cc or wahtever you use that your takeng away the very thing that breaks nitrates into gasses, i think that snails, hermits and phosphates will do the trick
