We have a 108 g reef tank. Our levels are and have remained good (ammo 0, nitrite 0, Nitrate 12, pH 8.1, salinity 1.023).
Last night our Algae Eating Blenny (also know as Lawnmower Blenny I think)looked really bloated and was swimming oddly..jerky movements. Today he was dead.
All other inhabitants (2 perc clowns, 1 Kole tang, 1 Orangespotted Watchman Goby, few snails, hermits, cleaner shrimp, feather duster) are fine. We did add a Serpant star on Sunday that died a few hours later (actually could have been dead when we added him but we left him a few hours to be sure).
Can anybody comment on what killed him? OUr tank is only 1 1/2 months old and the Blenny had been with us for about 10 days. We have 135 lbs of LR and aragonite substrate. There appears to be lots of algae available as a food source.
Please help, I want to know if our other inhabitants are in danger.
Thanks!!
