Algae Issues, I want coraline

My tank has been up for about 4 months now, and the existing coraline on the LR has been almost completly covered by green algae.
The tank is a 25g with a clown, a six-line, Choc. Chip star, cleaner shrimp, 5 hermits, and 6 snails. There is 10lbs of LR, and 40W of light (marine glo and power glo from Hagen). The lights are on for 11 hours per day. No sump.
Would adding some macro algae like calurpa help to keep the green algae from growing on the LR and glass? I really want to get some coraline going, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

The purple coraline actually does better in lower light. Even better in no light at all. Even though I have MH light, I only keep them on 9 hrs. a day. Green algea has chlorophyll, and will grow with the light. There are some online retailers that sell plastic chips that have purple coraline on them to seed a tank with.
You may be able to get rid of the green by setting up an alternate tank, even if it is a rubbermaid tub, well airated and dark. Put a couple of pieces of rock in it. This should kill off the green, and promote the purple. Added calcium will help also.
Problem is, it takes a long time to grow coraline.
I am sure that there will be disagreements on what I said, but when I had a problem with bleaching of my live rock a while back, it worked to speed the process along.
