Algae on Live Rock Question

Hey all you guys out there! SO obviously there's lots of algae growing on my live rock. I do a weekly water change 10% and my light goes on at 8:00AM and is turned off at 7:30PM. My lightning is 36 WATT. Is there a special brush I can brush over the live rock and get the algae off? It's disgusting but I'm not sure if I should keep it.

What kind of algae is it? I mean, is it glued to the rock or just kinda there? Is it isolated in one spot? How old is your tank? What color is the algae? Are your levels in check? Removing the algae is never a bad idea. You are essentially removing unwanted nutrients that way.

Keep your live rock, not your algae.
Reduce the amount of food you feed your fish - or reduce your bioload. Feed quality foods. Get a better skimmer. Increase water change volumes. Reduce your lighting to 6 hours a day - or even turn it off for the next two weeks and stop feeding your fish but every other, other day and keep up with water changes. Make sure you are using pure top off water - like RO/DI water with a ZERO TDS. If your TDS reading is more than 2, you are basically topping off with tap water - and introducing a LOT of nitrates and phosphates to your system which is fueling an algae bloom.
If that doesn't work, then take all of your live rock out of the tank and then pour some hydrogen peroxide over the rocks with algae on it and put them back in the tank unrinsed. The algae will die off in a few days. If you do this method first, you will still need to take those other steps to eliminate the problem long term.

mexican turbos are a dream. I have 6 in my 75g and they do a great job of keeping the algae off the rocks. One day i see algae on the rocks and within a few days they have found it and mowed it down. I have also tried algae fix marine in the past (prior to the turbos) with good success, but id rather go the natural route. My problem is that my rocks are nice and clean but my sand bed has a nice layer or algae that doesnt want to go away
