I keep getting brownish red algae growing on the sand. I cut the light down to 7 hrs and netted the algae out. It was gone for a while but it is starting to grow again. What els can i do to make it go away for good it is driving me crazy. I can't cut the light to much because i have a florida condi and it needs a lot of light

My guess would be too little circulation. try aiming a powerhead more in the area worst affected and see if that helps. I've had a lot of luck by using a Magdrive pump, and just made a "closed" loop using pvc pipe to direct the water where I need it.

your calcium is 600. Should be 400 - 450 give or take. What is your alk ? how often do you feed and how much ? I don't see this asked much. If you look at freshwater food. It containes Phosphates. Unlike Saltwater fish food contains no phosphates.

sounds maybe like cyano, aka red slime? Algae thrives on high phosphates, so you should buy a phosphate test kit, and test for it. If you do have high phosphate, you need to put a "phosphate" sponge in your filter. This will absorb all of the phosphate, and therefore kill the algae, as it will have nothing to feed on.
This is about all i can suggest, as i'm also battling cyano right now (just a little outbreak).
