algae problems

brown algae? like on the glass? magnets and turbo snails. for the substrate use substrate stirrers like horshoes, all the many crabs, sand sifting starfish, cucumbers, etc. the purple stuff may be cyanobacteria which is often due to excess nutrients in the tank. there are some manufacturers that claim they can rid of red slime algae. inverts often will take care of the cyanobacteria as well including the hermit crabs, emerald crabs. is there a lot of waste in your tank causing the cyanobacteria? do you have good filtration and a protein skimmer?

the first answer covered the algae pretty good, but i'm wondering if the purple blotches aren't coralline? what exactly do they look like and where are they showing up?
