Algae questions

I bought a bunch of base rock and a couple pieces of lr from my lfs when I started my tank 4 months ago. I bought another piece about a week ago that has really dark purple coraline algae and now its starting to turn white. Its kinda greyish. I have 220 watts of pc's over the tank. Also im fighting brown algae. My whole tank is covered. I had it a while back when I changed lighting but now its back again. I use tap water for now, but im going to start using to ro since I found out its free at my lfs. Is there anything to help the problem?

I would say the water. Switch to ro/di water and never up tap again. To many phosphates in tap water or well water. hope this helps. Tak

What are your water parameters? My initial guesses would be:
Salinity is less that 35ppt
ALK is less than 2.5Meq/L
or Temp is different from where it came from

salinity is about 32 ppt and my temp. is 78. Im not sure about alk I need to run and get more test. Should the salinity need to be raised?

It'll probably come back. The darker purple don't like much light so you might get pink coralline instead.
