I have had a red slime algae problem in my 8 week old 20-gallon tank. My fish store people told me to treat it with 1/2 dose antibiotic, open lid on tank to allow more oxygen and a water change after 48 hours of about 10-20 percent.
I looked through posts here, though, and noticed other advice: water changes, reduce lighting, etc.
What do you think? I have reduced light schedule by about an hour and cleaned the algae off the rock where it was most noticeable.
