I've noticed in everyone's picture the sand is bright white. I have a problem keeping the algae off of my sand. seems like every few weeks i have to go and pick it all off the bottom. it comes off in sheets. How does everyone do this?

dont overfeed, cut down on lighting during the day, crabs, snails. all of that should get the job done

I have been wondering the same thing...
shouldn't lighting be at a minimum of 8 hrs tho?
is everyone using mag floats as well?

I have my lights on for about 10 hours per day. I also have about 6 hermit crabs and a porcelain crab.

i run my nanolights about 8-9 hours a day. i have 4 astrea snails and an emerald crab. i use my mag-float where ever i can reach it. i didnt have any problems with algae control probably because of the snails. i think if you do weekly water changes that will help a great deal. hope this helped

Are you doing your water changes with tap or ro water, because tap water could be responsible for increased phosphate as well.

I've been using tap water most of the time. i will try decreasing the amount of "light" time also. hopefully this will help.

wait lemme get this straight...are you doing water changes with FRESH WATER instead of SALT? or are you refering to topping off the tank? I have never had to use freshwater in my nano and i hope i never will. i owe this to the fact that i do weekly water changes so the water doesent have time to evaporate.
