algae

Can someone tell me what am i to do to fight with this green algae that grow on my tank. it grows on the live sand and it too makes a mess on the glass too. its color is real dark green. by the way i keep sea water in my aquarium, and i havent come across this problem before. i wonder why!!! i have lots of reef genitors, ie hermit crabs but they dont bother with this problem of mine.
im really in deep problem, what am to do now????

what is the water temp?? do you have any turbos??? emeralds and sallys??? how long do you leve the lights on??? (8-10 hrs I hope) oooo yea hows the phosphate levels??? how about water changes??? filter system???
