my tank is still new and the test are all great on it ...I have 1 lrg. live rock and 2 damsels a protein skimmer and 1 sm. wet/dry filer. No powerheads till this weekend but I have brown stuff growing ! I know from reading what it is my question is how to get it off my live rock !I am going to add some hermits this weekend and some snails as well ...will that take care of the problem ?

Everyone goes through this. Just be patient. Because your tank is still new do not add snails. Hermits are fine but I had problems with mine. They always ate what I wanted of algae, even a coral every once in a while. I keep mine in the sup to clean. I do feed them every other day and take them out every once in a while and put them in the main tank.

I recommend scarlet reef hermits if you want hermits at all, they are less aggressive and do not attack corals unless it is dying already. You need snails anyway, so you should get a few to start.
What do you plan to do with the tank in the long run and what are the water parameters?

Red, blue, left handed(might want to avoid because of aggression), and the highly thought of emerald crabs should all work. I also agree to get the snails.
