Algae?

I have a new development in my tank.
It's a red-orange algae (I'm guessing) that grows in small, almost scale like plates that overlap each other - roughly 3x5mm rectangles. It's not corraline - AFAIK. It comes off the glass really easily, it waves in the flow and it's growing everywhere.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like cyano, it grows in a blanket and lifts up and waves in the flow. Do you over feed? Also check and make sure there are no dead spots where there is little to no flow.

this is not cyano - I got rid of that a couple months ago - knocking on wood

This is something different. It's not a blanket like cyano is. It grows in little overlapping rectangles, but they're distinctly separate, individual colonies. They like high flow, high light areas.
Unfortunately, I can't take a good pic of it.

I know now what you mean..someone on the site had it growing in his tank...we all asked about it because it looked really cool. He said it just grew, and he thought it looked nice so he keeps it cropped but lets it grow in one corner...it looked really red and frilly. Someone else chimed in and said it was harmless. Sorry...thats all I can remember.

Yeah Henry - getting closer.
It's almost like roof tiles in how it's growing.
I am getting some corraline growth, but this isn't like that either - at least not IME.
