No bubbles I did blow it off the rocks with a baster.

If it blew off like a carpet of material...it is cyano. Check for phosphates, make sure you have lots of water current with no dead spots, and be very careful of over feeding.
Remove as much red algae as you can and do water changes once each week to get rid of it. Don't use chemclean or Red X just yet. Try doing it natural first. It may take a little longer to be rid of it but cyano gets immune to chemclean and Red X.

Is it really red or more to the brown side? Could be diatoms if this is a newer tank.

Thats why I asked if it comes up like a carpet..diatoms don't, it blows off like dust...at least mine was like that. Am I wrong?

The tank is 3yrs old. The stuff comes off the rock easy. Now the stuff that came off the rock is laying on the sand. Need something to get rid of that now

I had the same problem(it is most likley Cyano) I put lots more flow in my aquarium(power heads) it's all gone now and has never come back. it took about 3 weeks to get rid of all of it.
