algae

What kind/color algae do you have. In general, cut back the feedings and do more water changes. If it's taking over, do a series of daily 20-30% water changes for about a week or more, you will notice a difference.

In most cases, the type of algae is completely irrelevant. Reduce feedings, do more frequent water changes, do larger water changes, and increase filtration. Do not bother with cutting back on lights unless they are on for a long amount of time. You have a nutrient problem, not a light problem.
If you have a phosphates reading (you very well may not), then you may consider adding phosban or rowaphos to your filter. Since algae generally consumes phosphates, you may not have a reading.
