algea build-up in refugium

Ok, i was at the lfs last weekend and told them my plan to make a refugium/sump out of my 20g tank. The only thing they questioned was how was i going to keep algea from growing in the protein skimmer and other parts of the sump if the light is on down there. Anyone have suggestions or problems with algea growth in the ps or other parts of the sump?

The same way you keep it from growing in your main tank...good water quality and by harvesting Macro Algae.
You shouldn't have a problem anymore then you would if it was hanging on your tank.
Good luck,

Wow,
If you don't think things through all the way then you get a simple answer like that which makes you look stupid. I guess that you just have to live with the algea build up in the early stages until things get established. I guess that since my other tank doens't have a refugium and my ps gets covered with that green slim every once in a while i just assumed that the ps and other chambers of the sump would have the same problem. You made it seem so simple.
Thanks :D
