What magent would you guy recommend for a 135 with 1/2 inch thick glass? And is there a huge quality difference with a cheap magenet (Mag-Float) and an expenseive one (Hammerhead) besides the price? I would put get ride of the algea naturally, but its an aggressive tank, so they would be lunch pretty fast.

I have a TWISTER that does a pretty good job on my 130 gallon..It was only $30.It does have a little trouble if I don't clean the glass for a few days, but a little extra work is all that is needed..I have heard that those "super expensive ones" do a much better job,but I can't justify that kind of expence when my $30 one works...

I recently got the Mag floats, and I really like them. The Mag float has the strongest magnet I've used. I almost couldn't pull them apart! My wife COULDN'T pull them apart. I got the large size, and I have a 135 gallon tank. I am willing to believe that more expensive magnets might scrape better, especially coralline algae, but so far I love my mag floats. I also love that when you're through, all you do is just pull away and the scraper floats to the surface!

Mag float gets my vote too. Obviously it floats so you don't have to get your hands wet should the magnet come apart but another feature is that if you get sand between the magnets just pull them apart, let the sand fall off, and grab the magnet again. Again, no wet hands and no problems. Get the large one. (I know a guy at one lfs that has bet people $20. they can't pull the magnets apart)

Sounds like the mag float is well liked.
My biggest problem, besides normal algae on glass (most of it is easy to take off) is coraline algae.
Takes alot of scrapping to get it and its a pain,
Does the magfloat do a decent job against this?
