My tank is being taking over by green algea on the glass and red algea on the rocks. Not alot of outside light hits the tank during the day but i keep my tank light on for about 10 hours a day. Thought about buying 20 or so snails but they die to quick and can't keep up! Anything else I can do? Also heard maybe a UV sterilizer?

Algaes need several things to grow.
Food in the form of nitrate and phosphates.
Light
CO2
Poor circulation will allow wastes to pocket and decay - leading to increase in nitrates/phosphates.
Overfeeding can lead to increases in these levels as well.
If your light bulbs are old, or of the wrong spectrum ( red ) alage will love this too.
Red alage - cynobacteria loves much of the same as the greens, and poor circulation will allow it to go nuts too.
Some alage is natural and beneficial. Nuisance algae grows out of control because we allow it everything it needs.
Test for nitrates and phosphates and post your results.
