It can be used on saltwater, I remember helping some twit out with his tank in a thread called "Green Water in 155 Gallon Aquarium" what a troll. If you do a search you will also find 3 pages on algone.

i'm asking because i've got an algea problem in my FW 55 tank. I'm almost certain that it's the tap water, but i won't be albe to do anything about that till after the new year. we're having new year's here and i just thought that it might help for a few days. it's mine/mom's tank...i'm trying to get her to learn how to take care of it for her future SW tank.
i don't want to put anything in there that's going to cause a problem later on in the SW tank....chemicals and stuff that are bad for SW i mean......

I didn't mean to be sarcastic to you. Its just that everytime I see the word Algone I think of that thread and that wierd poster. Did you read that thread, I spent way to much time trying to help him.
