lfs says to keep it at 10-12, all my books say from 8-10. aack.... who is right? My alk is running around 9.1 - too low, ok, too high???

If we are talking Dkh then your 9.1 is fine, I have had mine has high as 14 Dkh, but try to keep it around 11 Dkh.

Anything between 8 and 12 is good. But maintain that cal around 450

I can't get my alk above 9.1, but my calc stays between 450 - 500. My mag runs around 1300. can't figure it out.

I am using reef builder witch in itself is supposed to have an alk of 12.

No, it's not worth the drive, the only thing I buy there is water. They are hugely overpriced!! I'm currently looking for a decent lfs in the area myself.
