All Kinds Of Little Things

I just started a new tank a 25 gal. I have a deep deep bed of sand about three inches and 25 lbs of LR in it .I have only had this tank running for on week now and I am already seeing creatures scurry in and out of the LR and on the Sand. I also noticed that there were a ton of tiny feather dusters on every rock and when I mean a ton I mean a ton. My question is that if all these creatures seem to be thriving is my tank cycled? I tested and I only got a reading of .1 PPm of ammonia, PH was 8.2 and Salinity was 1.024. I can't remeber the trates and trites but one was 5 ppm and the other was 0. I also noticed that on the bottom there was some algae growing brown color. Diatoms?? Should I be leaving my lights on during the cycle? Thanks in advance.

Actually a DSB is at least 4". As long as you have trace of ammonia or nitrites then your tank is not cycled. Good that you are seeing lots of life. Don't forget to FEED your tank however.
