i just need help to determine which live rock is the best and really what is the difference. which one is the lightest and best for bio filtering. here are some i have seen in LFS and online
fiji
tonga
marshall island
deco
tonga branches
hapai
BARRIER REEF NAMOLI
alor
Kaelini Rock
Caribbean
and there are so most more out there....
my main question is what is the difference as he filteration. which live orck is best for filtration and which one is best for what it cost. any help would be great....right now i have my tank with a sand bed of about 4 1/2 inches and i am letting it run for a couple of days...... another questions is should i let my skimmer be on when i am cxycling the tank or do i leave it off......
any help will be great

The best LR is the lightest one that has the most amount of "Good stuff" on it. Caribbean is usaully more dense therefore heavier then the rest needing more to fill your tank. As for the rest whatever cool looking pieces that you like are what you should go with IMO. Oh, im' assumeing you will have the privelage of seeing it before you buy it like from LFS, it not then I guess you will be at the mercy of your vendor....sorry.:(
Good luck with whatever one you choose! It is such an expensive investment I wish there was a better way to make sure you are getting the best. I ended up getting mine from my LFS but many here have had great luck with LR from swf.com/etc. also.

I use turkish lr, they are much more cheaper but not lots of hichhikers on them... they just have feather dusters, coralline, bristle and crabs
