I have a master breeder who will sell me macrobrachium rosenbergii in post larve form (about 3 to four inches long and as fat as your pointer finger) for a very good price. They are a fresh water and salt water shrimp and when mature can reach a meter in length. My question is has any one ever feed thes to there fish or sharks and are they a good source of nutrition.

Okay new question what if i feed the shrimp the food i would normaly feed the fish that way they get the nutriants they need and I can until I can get them to eat frozen foods. i watched these shrimp eat they stuff themselves.

for a week i would feed them food that thye love, shrimp scallops etc. so the fish get the idea that anything entering the tank is food and then they will eat the frozen stuff with out thinkin.. what kind of fish do you have??? have you considered a fedding stick>

So far I know I am going to keep puffers The other tank mates I am unsure of I was thinking of adding a blue ribon eel. I know there is a low rate of survival, but if you can feed them live food I have seen them do very well. My plan is to feed the eel the shrimp and see if I can get him to switch over to frozen foods. If he wont I will just continue to feed the live shrimp to the eel. I like this shrimp because of its size, it becomes a adult in six months so as the eel grows i can feed it larger shrimp if need be. the tank will be 2600 to 5000 gallons that they are going into. I am waiting to here back from the Acrylic manufacturer on the size sheets they are able to make to determin the final size of the tank. I am setting up my 150 gallon tank today so once it cycles I will order the eel and let you know how it goes.

I just spoke with trey and he informed me that the problem with this eel not only is the food source but the fact that they get amonia burn when being shipped. So a different eel it is.
