Hi everyone
I now have in my tank the following:
2 Pecula clowns - 1-2 inches
1 PJ Cardnal - 2 inches
1 Bl. Hippo Tang - 1 inch
2 shrimp
3 snails
3 conch
1 serpant starfish
2 crabs
I currently feed them 1 cube of mysis shrimp every other day. Is that enough?
Thanks

Definitely not. That is not nearly enough variation for your inhabitants. You should have another 5 types of food that you feed them.
On a weekly basis, my fish are on a rotation of Formula A and B, Reef Formula, Algae Formula, Angel Formula, Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies, protein pellets, and fresh chunks of bananas. All of my food gets dosed with Zoe, Selcon, VitaChem and Garlic Xtreme.
Surfin, tank size really does not matter in this case..

I didn't even understand half the foods you said!!! Please understand that until 2 days ago, my only actual fish were the clowns. The other 2 I just got yesterday. My tank is a 55gal w/45lbs of LR. I was told to MAKE SURE I don't over feed them. Now besides the fresh banana, what would be a good variety of food, preferably frozen, that I can feed them. And; how much, how often?

My favorite (and my fish's favorite) type of food is frozen food. Formula A and B, Reef Formula, Algae Formula, and Angel formula are all frozen foods. They contain a high mix of different seafoods. For example, Formula A has scallop, shrimp, krill, clam, kelp, plankton, and an assortment of 10 other things. Algae Formula has kelp, seaweed, krill, phytoplankton, lettuce, and spinach. Each different formula has a different assortment of vitamins as well.
This is what I would recommend to get; 3 or 4 "formula" foods. It offers your fish a huge variety of foods that they need in their diet, and it is much better than buying 10 different types of individual frozen foods. Buying formula foods enables you to give your fish meat and vegatables and cover all the fish's needs.
Because you have a tang, I would be feeding your fish every day. One cube of a different food every day would be acceptable. The only reason you would be careful not to overfeed your fish is because overfeeding your fish will raise your nitrates. If you do not clean your tank enough, your nitrates will go up. I would recommend feeding your fish every day and making sure you do a partial water change every week as well.

Thanks. I'm going to Copy and Paste your recommendations and take them to my LFS. That was great advice!!!

frozen is superior, in my opinion.
The hippo will definitely eventually outgrow the tank. Either have plans for an upgrade or have plans to move him eventually.

Hey lion crazz, does the formula cubes make your skimmer go nuts? I stopped feeding those because it was a hassle. Even unplugging the skimmer, eventually I have to plug it back in, and no matter how long I wait I have to go through the ritual of playing with my air/water flow to stop it from overflowing until it's gotten everything out of the water. Plus the formula cubes seem to be nothing more than dust, if I put more than one cube in at a time the water stays cloudy until the next day.

I have never had either of those problems using cubes. My skimmer does not go crazy at all, and my tank clears up within 15 minutes. I usually feed 4 to 5 cubes each feeding.

Maybe it's the brand? I forget what I had, but I threw them out. Like I said, no hearty chunks of anything in the cubes, mostly dust once they break up. Thanks.

1 cube per day sounds like a lot for 4 fish. I have 2 clowns and 1 yellow tang (all small fish). I feed them 1/4 cube of frozen formula each day... and I still have a LOT of algae, and nitrates seem high. It seems to take them a good while to eat it up too...
Am I starving my fish? They don't look skinny to me! :)
