i turned off the lights and have now fuge to keep my ph up at night. i only have one aquadisc of striped mushrooms

Just read the ammonia after 3 minutes like the instructions say. It can't be considered reliable after that. If you are concerned then take a sample to your LFS and have them test it.
Although your pH would be considered low by most I would say it is on the low end of 7.8 to 8.3 which is what sea water is depending on location whether it's in a reef (8.3) or in the open sea (7.8) or anywhere in between. My 90 gallon tank is most always 7.85 during the day and 7.8 at night. It's not bad but I consider the most important thing to be stable (about .1) which mine is.
Also, by the way my pH will sometimes drop as low as 7.79 at night even with the light in in the fuge. All my fish (diamond goby, coral beauty, maroon clown, kole tang and hawaiian trigger) are all healthy and my mushrooms look good and are splitting. I had 2 now I have 6. My feather dusters, Green Brittle Stars, Green star polyps are all heathy as are my silver branching Xenias, haitian anenome, and button polyps. all have good color and healthy
