Am I the only one that ...

has taken a UPS power cube off of a computer to run the tank ? I figured, my computer has a warranty, but the tank doesn't. And besides, if the power goes out, I can sit and watch the fish. Maybe I just need some sleep.

Why would you waste a UPS on a computer? You can fix Windows (well put it back in the state that bill and his army left it anyway), but you can't do a reboot and scandisk on a tang. You gotta have your priorities, if the computer takes a sh*t just type Format C: and reinstall, takes an hour tops. Sad thing is the thing will run faster than before and you can watch your tank of living fish until bill and his gang are done with your computer. When all else fails REBOOT!:D :D :D

I do the Microsoft stuff for a living and after all my experience (computer novices listen up), the ABSOLUTE BEST tool for computers.............is the claw side of a hammer (unless you have access to an air chisel...man they made a mess) !!!
:D :D :D :D :D

You can also flip the little switch on the back of the power supply from 115 to 230 for a few seconds, solves all your problems:D :D :D
P.S. Don't do this to your own computer unless you want to buy a new one. Good technique to use if the company gives you a really slow old computer. Just keep a fire extinguisher handy.

I actually did that (it was the dog.....really it was) on a computer made by XXXX (won't say the name but it has 4 letters). The warranty was 5 days from running out and I got a new motherboard and processor. These days that stuff won't work. Most of the boards made by the biggies (FIC, Gigabyte, etc.) have a removeable "fuse" that if it gets overloaded from un-clean power or a processor overheat, it will pop (as in you WILL hear it) to prevent board damage. I am AMAZED it took that long to do that !!!

Oh, I forgot, the UPS I'm using is actually a 220 that converts to 110 internal. You should see the extension cord running from the laudry room !!! :D
