Ammo Lock2

Yes, but why is your ammonia rising? Better to do large water change and figure out why you are getting ammonia spikes rather than dosing with ammo-lock. This product is designed to declorinate and get a new tank up in running---before animals are placed in it.

Thanks Beth for the reply,
My ammonia and nitites is rising b/c of some newly added LR. (on Christmas Eve). I have done about a 20% water change since (using distilled water). There levels are dropping. In addition to that I have had a problem with algae in my tank. So before I add a clean up drew I want to fix the ammonia problem. I was thinking a combination of Ammo Lock2 and the water changes would be all right. I do have a CBS that has done well for 7 months. I also got a periwinkle and a hermit crab from the shore to test the waters. These two have been living for 7 months. I had more but the CBS gets hungry.
So would the Ammo Lock help speed the process? I'm anxious to get a clean up crew. Thanks.

Better to "cure" newly aquired LR in a rubbermaid container with a PH for a few days, rather than jepordize livestock, for future reference.
The problem with using those products is that when you start testing for ammonia after using it, you get false readings. I'd continue with the water changes if at all possible. If you have some more PHs that aren't in use, add some to the tank temporarily.
Don't add anything now until your tank has been completely stable for at least a mo.

Generalize improvement in water movement and surface gas exchange is always a real PLUS, particularly when you are having a problem in the tank.
For instances: I have plenty of water movement in my tank. EVERYWHERE. However, about a mo ago cyano basically took over everywhere all of the sudden. I struggled with it, cleaning several times a day. Finally, I added 2 PH's and the cyno is virtually gone a wk later.
Water quality resolves most tank problems better and faster than any chemical any time. And the best way to maximize water quality is via water changes and good circulation/gas exchange.
