ammonia and nitrate

added a cleaner shrimp and pepermint shrimp to my
tank on wed. could this be the reason of a slight spike
in my ammonia (0.24) and my nitrate (4.5) everything else
checks out good.

if they were dead when you added them
did you add the water from the fish store?

both r doing fine, and i never add the water from the fish store.

i haven't experienced an ammonia spike from adding livestock, but that certainly doesn't mean it can't happen
the scary part is that if your tank minicycles those guys will be the first to feel it (i am NOT saying it will)

I sincerely doubt that a shrimp(live one anyway) created an ammonia spike.

just did more tests and mmonia is back to
zero, but nitrate is still at 4.5. do u think
i should do a partial water change or just
hold off for a few more days. just did a water
change of 25pct a little over a week ago.
