Ammonia Question

I mixed up some change water last night in anticipation of doing a change tonight. I decided to test pH, salinity and ammonia tonight before i did the change and boy am i glad i did! Ammonia read 1.0ppm. I am new to saltwater, but i am pretty sure i shouldnt have ammonia in my change water. I am using RO water from walmart to make my change. I have not tested water straight out of the bottle yet, but what could have caused this?
I have Prime water conditioner i use for my oscar tank, but that seems to be ridiculous that i have to use water conditioner on RO water.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like the water from walmart isn't up to snuff.
Makes me wonder... I think I'm going to test mine tomorrow.

Maybe it's something in your salt, or your first test was bad. Are you allowing the salt to disolve completely before you test?
I don't know.. that's pretty odd.
