I have pretty dirty substrate that I am battling and keep noticing bubbles in my sand. Is this the dangerous gassed that Ive read about not wanting to be present in my tank?
Any recommendations about getting rid of it?
I can post more info if needed but its Friday and I don't feel like typing anymore than necessary, and my threads Are not biting lately so I'm gonna give it a rest and see what anyone has to say.
I have about 20 cerrith and 20 Nacc snails as part of my CUC. they are'nt doing much apparently.
Thanks again everybody.

That picture looks pretty normal to me. Th holes you see are probably from the fauna in the sandbed digging around. How deep is it.

I thought they were worms and such but I poked a wooden dowel in there and a swarm of bubbles came out. Its all around my tank too. I don't think I have that many worms and they are pretty big gaps. Thats actually the pic showing the leak in my tank. don't know where the right pic went.
My sand is about 2 inches deep I think. The bubbles appear to be just under the surface only. perhaps to half an inch down.
Thanks Henry.

I would doubt there is much if any anaerobic bacteria in a 2 inch sand bed. I am with my friend Joe here that if you are smelling a sulfur like smell you are in need of more sand shifting critters as this points to some rotting materials. If there is not a smell, again I say that looks like a perfectly healthy 2 inch sand bed.

Yes if you can smell something akin to rotten eggs it can be an indication of sulfur gas as Dr. Henry stated and that is a bad thing
