anemone advice

I am thinking about getting a anemone for my 90 gal reef
Any advice?... What worked for you? What did not?
I am thinking about the bubble tip or white sebae.
I like how big they get. do they stay open all day long or just when you’re feeding.
How often do you need to feed them? And what is best to feed it.
I have odyssea 2x 65W daylight 12000K and 2x actinic blue 65W lighting.
I think this is enough lighting what do u think?
Thanks for the advice

Imo this is not enought light to kepp anenomes in. You woud need metal hallides for them to get enough light. How long have you had this for/ how expierienced are you in saltwater? :notsure:

I have this tank for 4-5 months. but it was a fish only for a couple of years before I got it.
so the sump/tank is well cycled.
as fair as experance goes I am pretty new to the saltwater hobby. however I have been reading a great deal. one thing I find intrusting is that there is so many opinions and different views for this hobby. that is why I like to meet and talk to real people that have had good and bad experanices with this great hobby.
so you think I need more lighting? even if the anenome is in the middle of the tank on LR half way to the top of the tank.....about 12"- from the lights .
thank from the good advice!

Well my experience is this. Light has been the single biggest factor in keeping an anemone. I started with a 55 gallon and 80 watts of Normal standard lighting and I almost killed my bubble tip with that. I then upgraded lights to 360 watts of VHO and it sprang back to life, grew and split for me. Then I upgraded tanks to a 90 with the same lighting and it continued to do well. I upgraded lighting again to 440 watt of VHO and 500 watts of MH for 940 watts total. Now they split all the time and look just great. I've had the same BTA for over 5 years now, and have multiple clones from it.
I agree that your lighting is insufficient for an anemone if you want it to live and thrive. I would suggest at least a 440 watt VHO retrofit kit. With the depth of your tank if you go with a sebae then I would also get Metal Halide, or with any of the sand dwelling anemones.

Yeah you would probably still need metal halides. Also remember that anemones do move around they don't necessarily(cant spell
**fixed**) stay in one spot. In terms of difficulty thought you may still want to wait a while since you are new to the hobby (as i am still considered relatively new too) maybe first try one of the cheap ones like the condy's as they are not very difficult to keep and are also very cheap s if something happens its not a big deal that way. If you do get metal halides though that will help a lot. As far as feeding I'm not sure how often you should feed them. Ive heard anywhere from every other day(that's what i did when i was taking care of my neighbors) to once a week. my neighbor had them eating some kind of frozen fish or something not really sure what it was. Overall though that's about the extent of my knowledge of anemones. You will want to wait for some of the experts on here to give you advice. :not sure: madman133

ok It sounds like I need better lighting if I plan on getting an anemone.
I have an ice cap electronic driver that came with the tank. 120W 1-4 applications
but don't really know anything about it. can some one help with that?
Is that for MH or VHO??
thanks
