anemone and anemone fish

My anemone died the other day. Although my clown fish never hung around it, now he's acting strange (lying on the bottom of the tank). Will he die if I don't get anther anemone right away?

No, clowns can do perfectly fine without an anemonie, and are even bred in an anemonieless tank. The problem is why did the anemonie die? what are you water conditions? Id suspect ammonia or nitrite spiked.

I suspect a spike from the anemone as well. The nitrates could have been high to begin with as well...

Clown fish definately do not need an Anemone to survive. In fact, I suggest you do not purchase one, ever. They are far to hard to keep. I've had my Clown for a year and he hangs out with the Yellow Tang and Blue Tang. I call them the "treo" cause they really do hang around together, funny!
